National Poetry Day is the biggest mass celebration of poetry in the UK, started in 1994 when it was founded by William Sieghart. The purpose of the day was to promote the beauty that this type of art form brings to life, including through the display of public poetry readings.
Today is #RandomActsofPoetryDay As long as there has been language, there has been poetry, taking the shadowed hearts of men and women and finding ways to twist the abstract feelings and experiences of perception into the rising and falling rhythms of the spoken or written word.
Really looking forward to a headline slot at the ever popular Runcible Spoon tonight. It will be great to see and welcome back the wonderful Kathleen Strafford!
