Pleased to be able to join Sharena to celebrate the publication of her poetry collection SHE tonight and to be able to ‘zoom meet’ many other local poets to hear Sharena read and to also share each other’s poetry
Comments closedMy short story radio play ‘Mother-in-Law will be broadcast on BBC Radio Leeds tomorrow (Friday 13th November) on the Gail Lofthouse Show between 1and 2pm.
Comments closedLast night I had the privilege of being able to share some of my poems at the indomitable Runcible Spoon Zoom night hosted by Kathleen Stafford. 15 or 16 brilliant open micers interspersed with four headline poets. The sensual words of Sue Hubbard, star quality from Oz Hardwick, the amazingly funny Matt Panesh and the Otley folklore king Matthew Hedley Stoppard.
Tonight is another Gingerlicious night with David Driver. Looking forward to it.
Looking forward to talking to David Driver on Drystone Radio this evening about all things ‘writerly’
Comments closedMy virtual book signing event goes out on Thursday. This was created in lieu of the Book signing event in Huddersfield that had to be cancelled.
Comments closedI thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful evening in the company of some wonderful poets and musicians. It was good to share two poems that connect me to the District and that celebrate the positive cultural diversity that is Bradford (The Lantern Parade and The Curry Place)
Comments closedMy visit to W H Smith in Huddersfield (scheduled for Saturday 15th August) has had to be postponed. However, I am doing a live Q&A with my publisher on YouTube at 6pm on Monday 17th August – a kind of virtual book signing event – as an alternative.
Due to technical difficulties we have had to reschedule the live Q&A. This will now be available on the 27th August.
The Book Cover for Show me the Way to Santiago will be revealed through my publisher on the 31st March. A picture of the cover will also be posted here on that day.
Thank you to Jenny and Kevin for filming and editing this little video of Stan performing my monologue at the LeedsLit Fest Pub Theatre event at the Adelphi.

Comments closedThe LeedsLitFest event (From Darkness into Light) at the Adelphi pub in Leeds in two days time, is sold out. My monologue about living with my dead mother-in-law for sixteen years will be performed, along with ten other short (5 minute) pieces. Good luck to all the other performers and writers. If the night is as good as last year it will be a memorable one for the ninety people who will witness all the performances.
Comments closedHappy to announce that thanks to my fellow IWG writer and friend David Windle, Stan Haywood is going to perform the monologue at the Adelphi in Leeds on the 5th March. Looking forward to joining David and Stan in Hull very soon to start rehearsals.
Comments closedSharing spoken words with so many brilliant local poets. A truly wonderful and humbling experience.
