As the clock ticks toward an exciting weekend, I’m thrilled to share some news that’s close to my heart and hopefully yours too. This Saturday, July 19th, 2025, (just a few days away!), I’ll be supporting the talented Nabeela Ahmed for the launch of her captivating new book, From Kashmir to Yorkshire, at Bradford’s City Library. I’ll be stepping up as the guest reader, sharing excerpts from my latest work, Imprints.
If you’re a lover of stories, poetry, or simply curious about the rich tapestry of human experience, this is an event you won’t want to miss!
A Journey from Kashmir to Yorkshire

Nabeela Ahmed’s From Kashmir to Yorkshire is a remarkable exploration of identity, heritage, and belonging. The book’s cover featuring the lush, mountainous landscapes of Kashmir juxtaposed with the rolling green hills of Yorkshire hints at a narrative that bridges two worlds. Having grown up in the South Asian diaspora community in the UK, Nabeela weaves her multilingual talents (English, Urdu, and Pahari) into her writing, drawing from her family roots in Mirpur and her life in Bradford. This launch feels like a celebration of the diverse voices that shape our region, especially given the historical migrations from South Asia to Yorkshire following the 1947 partition of India and Pakistan.
An Open Invitation to Join Us
What makes this event even more special is its accessibility. There are no ticket limits or bookings required, just show up and immerse yourself in the celebration! The afternoon will feature an open mic session, giving local voices a chance to shine, alongside my reading from Imprints. This collection of poems and stories reflects my own journey as a writer, exploring memory, identity, and the imprints we leave on each other’s lives. I’m honoured to share the stage with Nabeela and can’t wait to see how our works resonate together. Bradford, with its vibrant multicultural fabric, is the perfect setting for such an occasion. Supported by @bradfordlibs247, this event, aligns with the city’s tradition of fostering creativity, as seen in initiatives like the Bradford Literature Festival (27 June – 6 July 2025).
Why You Should Attend
Whether you’re a poet, a storyteller, or simply someone who loves a good tale, this launch offers something for everyone. It’s a chance to connect with fellow book lovers, hear new works, and celebrate the cultural richness of our community. Bring a friend, bring your notebook, or just bring your curiosity, doors are open to all! I hope to see you there this Saturday at City Library. Follow Nabeela’s link to the event details and join us for an afternoon of inspiration. https://fb.me/e/3hgJjnavJ
Let’s make it a memorable day of words and wonder!
Until then, keep writing, keep reading, and keep exploring the stories that shape us.
Warmest regards,
Peter
