Armageddon

My latest poem – Armageddon #poetrycommunity #POEMS

Armageddon
Three children playing in the dirt
losing their identities
bit by bit
and every ten seconds a rocket explodes
three people losing their limbs in a sea of limbs
staggering from north to south, south to north
within a tiny ribbon of land
searching for blue sky
and every ten seconds a rocket explodes
pages float down, torn from Ares’ book of war,
there will be no blue sky
only red rivers in the dirt
and every ten seconds a rocket explodes
and on the edge of the rocket crater
torn strips of fear, tinged with a little hope.

Reference: Ares – Greek god of war, son of Zeus and Hera. He represented the distasteful aspects of brutal warfare and slaughter
