Cumbria Coastal Way (Part Eleven)

Just on the train after completing my 11th stage of the Cumbria Coastal Way. Today will be the last leg of 2024 and also the last time I travel from Arnside towards Barrow and St Bees. Next year it will be north on the train to Carlisle and then catching a train southwards to St Bees.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the walk so far. Today’s route involved about 6 miles of beach walking, mainly on pebbles, at times on sand, with some rock scrambling.

I clocked 9 miles in the 3 hour window for walking, although that did include an unscheduled backtrack to try and find a missing glove. This turned out to be a fruitless mission and meant I had to jog for a mile to ensure I got to St Bees Station in time to catch my return train. Some watery sun at times early on, but a very grey day on the whole with no views of St Bees head at all. She remained cloaked in mist.
