In a world where we’re constantly plugged in, notified, and scrolling, the chance to properly switch off feels like a real gift. That’s exactly what Digital Detox Day at Holden Clough Nurseries is offering on Saturday 4th July 2026; a whole day dedicated to logging off and tuning back into the real world.
I’m delighted to be there as part of the PYA (Promoting Yorkshire Authors) presence. We’ll have a stall with our books available to browse, buy, and get signed. It’s always lovely to meet readers face-to-face, chat about writing, walking, poetry, or just life in general; all while surrounded by the beauty of the nurseries.

Holden Clough has been growing beautiful plants since 1927, and the setting is perfect for this kind of day. Colourful flowers, peaceful paths, fresh air, and the simple pleasure of being outside without a phone in your hand. The event poster (shown above) captures it perfectly; vibrant blooms and that inviting “Time to Log Off” message.
As someone whose books are often inspired by the outdoors; the Pennine Way, long-distance walks, and the quiet magic of nature, this event feels very close to my heart. Whether you’re a keen walker, a parent wanting screen-free family time, a fellow author, or simply someone who fancies a restorative day among the plants, you’ll be very welcome.
What to expect
- A relaxed, screen-free atmosphere at the beautiful Holden Clough Nurseries
- PYA authors’ stall with books for sale (including my own titles and poetry)
- Plenty of opportunity to explore the gardens and enjoy the surroundings
- A chance to chat, connect, and perhaps discover some new favourite reads
I’ll be there with copies of Show Me The Way to Santiago, A Very Alternative Coast to Coast, The Owl and the Mole, Imprints, and more. Come and say hello; I’d love to meet you.
