Hello, reading and poetry lovers! It’s been an exhilarating start to September 2025, and I’m thrilled to share some highlights from my recent appearances across the UK. From open mic nights to festival previews, the month has already been packed with poetic inspiration. Grab a cup of tea, settle in, and let’s dive into the updates so far………plus, keep an eye out for more exciting events on the horizon!

Kicking Off with Soundbites – Poetry Open Mic Night
The month began with a bang as I had the honour of headlining at Soundbites – Poetry Open Mic Night. Standing under the warm glow of the venue’s lights, with a microphone in hand and a book of poems ready, I shared my work with an enthusiastic audience. The cosy atmosphere, complete with string lights and vintage décor, made it a perfect setting to connect with fellow poetry enthusiasts. It’s moments like these that remind me why I love performing, seeing the audience’s reactions and feeling the energy of shared creativity is truly special.
Sharing the Stage at UNDER THE LOBBY LIGHTS
Midweek, I took to the stage at UNDER THE LOBBY LIGHTS in Wakefield, where I shared three of my poems. It was a delight to be in the company of fellow poets Faye Marshall, Tim Brookes, and Liz McPherson, collectively known as the Yaffles. The camaraderie and talent in the room were palpable, and I left feeling inspired by our collective passion for poetry. This event was a wonderful reminder of the supportive poetry community we’re all part of. I’ve had the privilege of sharing the stage with incredible talents. From Ralph Dartford’s brilliant headline set to contributions from Keith Fenton, Nick Toczek, Pip Fowler, and many others; including Elizabeth Taj-Radice, Tom Priestley, and Susan Darlington. These performances have been a testament to the richness of the spoken word scene. Apologies to anyone I might have missed in the excitement!
Previewing and Performing at Morecambe Poetry Festival
The month is only halfway through and the first two weeks built up to an exciting crescendo with the Morecambe Poetry Festival 2025. Last week, I attended the festival’s preview night, setting the stage for the main event. Then, yesterday, Sunday, September 14th, I took the stage for my 15-minute slot, The Best of Morecambe, at 3PM at the Kings Arms. Following my recent Poetry Slam win, it was an honour to perform as part of the festival’s line-up. The seaside backdrop and the vibrant crowd made it a truly special experience, and I’m grateful to everyone who joined me for this celebration of words.
