This week’s poem, Slicks, was based on taking lines from an article and responding to them in couplets. So the first lines derive from an RSPB article and reflect bird/animal life in an urban setting, however the whole piece now clearly reflects something very different going on in the ‘city’… As always, I hope you enjoy! #WritingCommunity #Writerslift #Books #poetrycommunity #poetrylovers #Poems #Blogs #Authors #Writers #ReadersCommunity #ShamelessSelfpromoThursday
Slicks
City creatures are busy breeding,
broody financiers playing roulette
emerge from their dens or ‘earths’ until
they see their stock rising. Champagne corks
nest on cathedral roofs and
bowls of caviar conspire with canapes, held
together in tall trees in city parks,
where urban cowboys strut their stuff.
